The Bastard Executioner is an American historical fiction drama television series aired on FX.
Inspired from shadow puppetry which is an ancient form of storytelling. Hand-cut figures were held between lighting and a layer of 'Hanji' (traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees).
All assets including the title were hand-cut. Shot in lighting studio. Color corrected and composited in After Effects.
